Helping church communications grow up.

Mission Statement

“To help churches maintain excellent communications that are attractive and increase the effectiveness of their ministries.”

The slogan, “Helping church communications grow up”, is a double entendre. (I had to look it up too). The attitude I take is that yes, many churches have very poor communications, others aren’t so bad, but the Church is the institution through which the Holy Spirit moves and God reclaims his creation. Why then should Jesus’ followers not strive for excellence (not perfection) and beauty in their communications? That is the mission of Rooted Up Communications and this blog. I pray it is yours also.

This blog is a place for church leaders who want to share Jesus and their faith community through online and print communications, but don’t know where to start. The blog is written by a 20-something volunteer doing communications for his home church. It is a journey through the experiences and mistakes of a self-taught novice in web design, social media, and online marketing.

If you are an average attender at your church and can spell Internet with a capital “i” then this blog is for you. Here you will find links to helpful websites, how-tos and definitions for those newfangled techie words peppered into this blog. If you’re well versed in Web 2.0 and trending church communications, you are more than welcome to add constructive and helpful bits to the conversation.

May God bless you and your church or nonprofit as you glean useful knowledge from these posts.
